Lenape Indian Cooking

Cookbook with Touching Leaves Woman

In the pages of this cookbook you will find more than recipes. You will find the history, the tradition and the love that cooking brings to mind.

Touching Leaves Woman (Nora Thompson Dean) was born in 1907 in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) and left this life in 1984.  In the beginning of her manuscript for this book she wrote "This is a recipe book of a sort - but mostly it's about the ways of my old people - the Lenape Indians".

With hisorical accounts of the traditon of farming and food of the Lenape, Old Recipes, Modern Recipes, an article about Sharing the Gift of Food by Jim Rementer and an article on Delaware Indian Food by Herbert C. Kraft this is quite a treasure.
